Purdue Northwest Engineering Makers Lab

Purdue University Northwest

Hammond, IN

The Pangere Corporation was the General Contractor for the renovation of the Purdue Northwest University Services Building Engineering Makers Lab located in Hammond, Indiana. The project created a PNW School of Engineering working environment for student project design, engineering, assembly, and display, along with team spaces and 3D printing areas.

Scope of Work:

The first phase of the work included selective demolition of existing interior finishes, lighting, fixtures, walls, and ceilings. Following demolition, the space was converted to an engineering laboratory to include new corridors, flooring, doors and hardware, ceilings and lighting, remodeled offices, and common student spaces.

The new Engineering Makes Lab boasts a design studio in which instructors assign students their projects. Students then have access to a fabrication shop that houses a variety of machine tools such as welding, and bench assembly areas to use for these assignments or other miscellaneous projects. In addition, the space has several offices, a presentation studio, a teaming area, a 3D printing studio, a break room, and a reception area.
