East Chicago, Indiana

Community Foundation of Northwest Indiana contracted The Pangere Corporation to complete a 6,100-sf interior demolition and build-out for a new Cancer and Infusion Center in the former Behavior Health
outpatient office space at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, Indiana. Pangere was tasked with transforming the existing space into 8-treatment suites, 3 private exam rooms, a staff locker room, reception, and waiting rooms, as well as a centralized monitoring area.

While being regarded as one of the top infectious control contractors in northwest Indiana, Pangere stepped up to the challenge by completing this remodel without compromising the various adjoining departments. Given the age of the facility, Pangere encompassed various unforeseen issues that required swift coordination as well as exceptional craftsmanship to provide such a flawless finish. During the remodel, the owner decided to upsize the new air handler unit to facilitate additional airflow into adjoining areas within the hospital. This work required modifying the design of the project given the tight limitations, while remaining compliant with local building codes. When completing this work, teams were tasked with replacing the air handler unit within a 48-hour time slot to maintain proper airflow into the adjoining suites.

The newly remodeled Cancer and Infusion Center centralizes the various treatments for patients while providing an uplifting ambiance with enhanced lighting and views of the healing garden. The Pangere Corporation is extremely appreciative to be a part of such an empowering project.
